Import

WordPress pages from a spreadsheet

Keep your rows in Excel or Google Sheets. RowSprout imports them from a CSV or Excel file, a URL or a shared Google sheet and turns every row into a real WordPress page. Change the sheet, import it again, and your pages follow.

How it works

From a sheet to pages in four steps

The import wizard sits on the template’s General tab, and in Elementor’s RowSprout template tab.

Choose the source

A CSV, text or Excel file from your computer, a file on the web, or the link of a Google sheet shared with “Anyone with the link”.

Check the columns

RowSprout detects the delimiter and the character encoding, and shows a preview of how the file is split.

Map them

Choose which column fills which property, or add a new property from a column. Next time, your choices are remembered.

Review and import

See what is new, changed, unchanged or skipped before anything is saved. Then generate the pages with one save.

Import again and again

Your sheet stays the source

Import the same sheet as often as you like: rows find their own page, so you update pages instead of piling up duplicates.

Rows find their page

A row with a group's ID or URL updates that group. Only rows that match nothing become new pages.

See before you save

The summary warns about values that don't fit their property and about URLs used twice, before anything changes.

Delete only on purpose

Rows gone from the file can be deleted with their pages, but only when you tick it, and never from a file that matches none of your rows.

Export to edit

Download a template's rows as CSV, in a format that opens correctly in Excel in any language, edit them and import them back.

Excel workbooks

Import .xlsx files directly, and choose the worksheet. Google sheets with several tabs ask which tab to read.

Every alphabet

Accents, Greek, Cyrillic, Chinese and emoji arrive exactly as typed, in your pages and in their URLs.

RowSprout Pro

Keep pages in sync with the sheet

Let RowSprout Pro import the sheet on a schedule: every hour, twice a day, daily or weekly. Each run updates the changed rows and generates their pages, with a log of every run and an email when a sync starts failing.

  • Google Sheets, CSV and Excel files at a URL
  • JSON feeds and REST APIs, with a header for an API key
  • A Syncs screen with every run: added, updated, deleted
  • Safeguards: a source that suddenly lost most of its rows deletes nothing
  • WP-CLI and MCP commands for scripts and AI agents

FAQ

Importing, answered

Which files can I import?

CSV and tab-separated text files, Excel workbooks (.xlsx), a URL to any of these, and a Google sheet shared with "Anyone with the link". RowSprout Pro adds JSON files, JSON feeds and REST APIs.

Does an import publish the pages right away?

An import saves the rows. Save the template with "Create & update pages" to generate the new and changed pages. A scheduled sync in RowSprout Pro generates them right away when the template is published.

My postcodes lose their leading zero. Why?

Spreadsheet apps turn text that looks like a number into a number: 0123 becomes 123. Turn off automatic conversion when you open the file, or set such columns to Text. When a value comes back changed this way, RowSprout keeps the stored value and tells you.

Can I import from my own system?

Any system that exports CSV or Excel works, and anything that publishes a CSV, Excel file or (with Pro) JSON at a URL can be synced on a schedule.

What can I build with it?

A page per town, branch, product, vacancy, course date or integration: anything you can describe as rows in a table. See location pages or the examples in the documentation.
